Word on the street, the pass will open today at 2pm.

Yep, that is the word on the street and this morning great big pieces of equipment were rolling down the highway past the lodge.  This means that summer is officially here and we welcome it.  There's still plenty of snow on the peaks so the drive up here is just beautiful.  Our aspen trees, while thinking about it, haven't leafed out yet; that should happen the next couple of days.

Well, we declare winter to be a thing of the past and today Scott is opening up Tall Pine and Trails End cabins in anticipation of sunny days and sunny guests.  Hope we will see you at the lodge this summer. (Nope, our trees don't have leaves yet, this is last summer's photo)

Ice Out

Well today it is official, spring is here in the mountains and warm weather and flowers are surely not far away now.  How can I make that bold rash statement when the weather service says our low tonight will be in the teens? The only true way .... The ice is off the Twin Lakes so it is officially spring.  The ice has been off the upper lake for maybe a week but the lower lake always holds onto its ice a bit longer, never convinced that spring is in the air as early but now Spring is really here.  Come up and try some Ice Out fishing in the high country.
